so I constantly get asked about this tattoo. I get asked “why?” and “what’s the meaning of it?” Why? 5 Seconds of Summer is my favorite band, surprise. and this song happens to be one of my favorite songs. Why did I pick that song? because there’s a meaning behind it that I can relate to. What’s the meaning of it? When I hear that song, I think about me battling depression. I also did self harm, and as odd as it may sound, I’m not embarrassed or ashamed because my scars remind me that “hey, I made it. I’m still here.” With depression, some days you honestly want to give up. you feel like there’s literally nothing left to look forward to, you feel like you don’t matter to anybody and that no one cares, and you feel like there’s nothing good left. Certain lines in the song have either helped me tremendously or were things I can relate to. “Life can be so hard to breathe when you’re trapped inside a box” with depression sometimes comes anxiety and I battle that as well. and that is the perfect description of how it feels, you literally feel trapped. “The sun will rise, the moon will fall; Tomorrow never dies” when you feel like giving up, there’s always tomorrow, always a new day ahead to start making changes whether it’s cutting certain people from your life or finding something new that you enjoy. it’s a reminder for me to not give up when life gets you down. And I’m glad to say that @5sos-official has been helping me through all of this
